One of the major problems in this novel was when he was flying over to his dads house and the plane crashed, so he has to survive in the forest alone until someone finds him. Brian survived because he was smart, he used a shoelace to make a bow and arrow, he made a fire with his hatchet and his 20 $ bill without any matches. Brian learned how to get his head right, staying positive all the time, this is important because when you have a positive attitude you are more creative and more aware of things. Another reason why he survived so long was because he had a hatchet, which saved his life, with it he made fires with it, he created spears and arrows with it to hunt for food. This problem was solved when someone found him after 54 days of surviving alone in the forest.

Brian Roberson, he is optimistic because he won't give up hope that he will be rescued, he is a fighter because he is not willing to lay down and die, he is smart because he finds a way to survive in the wilderness alone, lastly he is adapting because he quickly gets used to living and taking care of himself. Some of Brian's weakness is that sometimes he doesn't believe in himself , sometimes he loses hope that he will get rescued and he just falls into depression.One of Brian's worst mistake was that he saw a skunk approaching his eggs, he yelled at it and threw sand at it which cause him to be temporally blind because the skunk sprayed him.

Thirteen year old Brian Roberson is on his to visit his father because he has divorced parents, he went on a small plane, just him and the pilot. While he was on his way to visit his father, the pilot has a heart attack, Brian now needs to try and land the plane, he crashed the plane in a small lake. Brian now needs to survive in the wilderness with nothing but his clothing, a tattered windbreaker, and the hatchet his mother gave him as a present. Brian has to learn how to hunt for food, find water and learn how to make fires if he is going to survive. Brian started drinking the water from the lake, he drank it until he puked. After that he went to look for food, he finds some berry's, he was so hungry he ate berry's until he puked. Next day he remember his science classes and how he could make a fire with his hatchet, he couldn't get the fire going for a while, until he remember that the fire needs oxygen, so he blew it and the fire started. 

If you were to be stuck living in the wilderness, what would be one thing you would want to have? It can't be an electronic device
